Excellent from beginning to end
Excellent from beginning to end. Staff were so very helpful, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The location was just what anyone could wish for, and the sea views were spectacular especially from the Cottage (which we had). We will certainly return.

Lizzie on booking-directly.comDecorated with taste in a classic style that embraces the age of the Inn
Lovely room overlooking the harbour, accessed from a flight of twisty stairs and a delightfully wonky corridor with original panelling and low, not for me, beams. Our room was decorated with taste in a classic style to embrace the age of the Inn without feeling like your Aunty Edna's house. Great to perch on the window seat and look out to sea with the thatch overhead. Fab breakfast, nicely presented by chefs who understand allergies; mine was strictly gluten-free. Don't be alarmed by the traditional pubby feel when you arrive; this isn't the experience you have as a guest, and despite being one floor up and directly over the front door and outdoor seating, there was no late-night noise to keep us awake at all. Lovely, friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.
Rachael on TripAdvisorAbsolutely perfect, and the real punch comes from the kitchen
Absolutely perfect! As everything I will write about the Rising Sun will be the same verdict, I could finish my review there. Everything from the moment we arrived until we left was amazing. A friendly welcome, a beautiful room with fabulous views over the little harbour and coastline, a 'shockingly' comfortable bed and clean modern shower room. The bar had a great selection of delicious beers, and a really good choice of quality wines. But the real punch comes from the kitchen! As a rule, we never eat in the restaurant of the hotel we're staying in. We stayed at The Rising Sun for 3 nights and ate in The Rising Sun for 3 nights! The food was phenomenal! The seafood chowder brimmed with fresh fish, as was the Fish Pie. The mushroom and tarragon pate was a work of genius! The locally sourced lamb rump was trying to jump off the plate, it was so fresh, but possibly my favourite, the stuffed pork tenderloin with accompanying pork and black pudding sausage roll! Sounds 'working class', British cooking at its best!
Hugh on TripAdvisorSea view from every window
Travelled with my husband and my parents and stayed at The Rising Sun for one night. We had paid a little extra to get good rooms, but we never expected the quality of the rooms given to us. Big, airy, and cool with a direct entrance out to the sea. Sea view from every window and extremely clean. The breakfast was perfect with everything we needed, and it was served inside the charming old pub. We could not fault it!
